On June 1-4 this year. Gdansk hosted the Freedom and Civil Rights Festival, commemorating the anniversary of the first partially free elections of 1989. This year’s celebrations, which took place mainly in the areas of the European Solidarity Center and Gdańsk Agreement Square, gathered crowds of Tricity residents and many guests from all over Poland.
One of the main elements of the celebration was the Social Zone, where more than 200 NGOs presented their activities, including our Fundacja Drogi Proste (Roads Straight Foundation). For a young foundation like ours, being invited to participate in such a prestigious event was a huge honor. This is a unique opportunity to present our activities to a wider audience and make valuable contacts with other organizations and institutions.
During the event, the Social Zone was bustling with numerous debates, workshops and meetings. Our presence in Gdansk was honored by important personalities, including the Mayor of Gdansk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, who actively supports social and civic initiatives.
During the Freedom and Civil Rights Celebration, participants had the opportunity to listen to inspiring talks and debates led by well-known journalists such as Magdalena Rigamonti and Jaroslaw Wlodarczyk, as well as take part in workshops led by organizations from all over Poland.
Our foundation was also honored to receive a diploma-thank you for participating in the event, which is a token of our appreciation for our past activities and motivation to continue working for the community.
The Celebration of Freedom and Civil Rights in Gdansk is not only an opportunity to reflect on history and democracy, but also an opportunity to build a future based on cooperation, understanding and public engagement. We would like to thank the organizers for the invitation and everyone who visited our booth for their support and inspiring conversations.
We invite you to follow our further activities and participate in future initiatives of the Simple Ways Foundation. Together we can change the world for the better!
